Red Maple Tree

I have a red maple tree that is getting dead spots in the leaves, the tree is 6′ tall and was planted 3 mo.ago
any ideas whats wrong with it, was planted in a burlap bag with original soil although my yard is clay -Michigan
It depends on the size of the dead spots on the leaves. If it is small spots it is what they call “hole shot fungus” caused by excess moisture in the air and ground due to excessive rain fall. It is a naturally occurring fungus. It can be controlled though with a spray fungicide. Any good garden center would carry one. It will depend on what is available for your state. An application would not hurt it. Even though you planted it with burlap on it that is fine as long as you cut the strings and or metal bindings. The burlap will biodegrade and the roots will spread even in the clay soil. Do make sure the burlap is totally covered though because if left to the air all moisture to the roots will wick away.
