How I can do these giant elephant ears at the fair?
I want to make elephant ears than fair. No funnel cakes. It's like a fried dough sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. I would like a recipe for another Food Fair as well. Thanks to all who help!
1 1 / 4 cups butter cup milk 1 package 1.4 to 2.1 of sugar active dry yeast 3 / 4 cup granulated 1 / 4 cup water (105-115 degrees F.) 5 1/2-6 1 / 2 cup flour 1 teaspoon salt 1 pinch of freshly ground nutmeg, grated 3 large eggs, lightly beaten vegetable oil (for frying) of sugar or cinnamon sugar Heat milk and butter until butter thoroughly. Cool. Mix yeast, sugar and 1 teaspoon in hot water and let stand until foamy, about 5-10 minutes. In a bowl , combine the milk and yeast mixture with 2 1 / 2 cups flour, salt and nutmeg. Mix until smooth. Cover and let stand until bubbly, 30 minutes. Add beaten eggs, then add more flour to make a soft but not sticky dough. Place the dough on a floured board and knead until smooth, flexible and elastic, about 8 minutes. Return dough to bowl, cover and let rise in warm place until dough is doubled, about 1 1 / 2 hours. Hit and split into 4 pieces. Divide each song four or five pieces. Place a few inches of oil in a large deep skillet, a chicken fryer or heavy Dutch oven. heat to about 360 degrees F. The work of each ball of dough with your hands, form into a large disk, about 10 cm long and 6 inches. Fry one at a time, turning once, until browned. Drain on paper towels and sprinkle with powdered sugar or cinnamon sugar hot. Serve warm
